Amanda MacIntyre
Communications Officer

Amanda joined the NCPEI team in September of 2008. Previously employed as the Program Coordinator for the Celebrate Canada Committee for PEI, Amanda brings to our organization skills in event planning, media relations, fundraising, project development, volunteer management, and workshop delivery. She has extensive experience in facilitating and coordinating youth employment programs and has worked with youth at risk for several years. Amanda holds a BA in Sociology/Anthropology from UPEI and is currently working towards completing her Masters Degree in Criminology.

Darragh Murray
Employment and Training

Darragh is currently on maternity leave.

Darragh Murray, formerly employed as the Skills Link Coordinator at the NCPEI, is now working as the Employment and Training Coordinator. We congratulate Darragh on her new position and are glad that she is able to continue to be a part of the NCPEI team.


Janet Gallant
Office Administrator

Janet Gallant graduated from Kensington Intermediate Senior High School in 2000. After graduating from high school, Janet became very active within the Native Council. She has been a member of the council for 13 years and has been an employee since 2001.  Janet is currently working as the office administrator as well as assisting the finance department with data entry.

Janet takes great pride in her children and enjoys volunteering at the Annual Abegweit Pow-wow held in Panmure Island.

Jane Young
GED Instructor

Jane graduated from Mt.A University in 2003 with a Major in History and Commerce & Canadian studies minors. In 2005, Jane graduated from UPEI with her Education Degree with a specialization in Aboriginal Education.

Jane started at the Native Council of Prince Edward Island in October 2009. Jane has a strong desire to assist Aboriginal individuals to reach their goals of receiving their education and reaching their full potential. 

Jane resides in Queens County with her fiance and two little boys.

Jayne Tremere
Finance/Human Resources Director

Jayne has been an Associate Member of the Native Council of Prince Edward Island since 2005 and during the 35th Annual General Assembly members passed a Resolution to make her an Honorary Member of the Native Council of Prince Edward Island, being accepted by the Off-reserve Aboriginal Membership of the Native Council of PEI for her wishes to support and dedication to the Council's aims and objectives.

Jayne is a graduate of the Accounting Technology program from Holland College. Upon graduating Jayne accepted the Bookkeeping/Tenant Support position with the Nanegkam Housing Corporation. Jayne was responsible for all financial aspects for the Housing Corporation for 3 years. In 2006, Jayne accepted the Financial Controller position within the Native Council of Prince Edward Island. Jayne still is actively involved with the Nanegkam Housing Corporation, as she holds the position of Administrative Support to the Board of Directors of Nanegkam. Jayne also is actively involved in the Province's Homelessness Initiatives. Jayne holds a voting position on the Homelessness Partnering Strategy Committee. Jayne also volunteers and sits on various committees including: Annual Pow Wow, Shelter Task Force, Economic Development and Affordable Housing.

Jenna Burke
Cultural Connections Program - Youth Coordinator

Jenna graduated from the Child and Youth Care Worker Program at Holland College in 2006. She has been involved with the Native Council since moving here in 1997. In the past, she has served as a Youth Board of Director for the Native Council and  Provincial Youth Representative for the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples.

Jenna has continued to be an advocate for Aboriginal youth and enjoys empowering the younger generation to make positive changes in their lives.

Jordan Crane
L'nu Fisheries/Kelewatl Commission

Jordan Crane has been a member of the Native Council since 1992. His first position working within the Native Council of Prince Edward Island was as a summer student working on the Midgell River Enhancement project. After graduating from Morell Regional High School in 1994, Jordan went to work as the Supervisor of the Midgell River Enhancement Project. In 1998 he became the Fisheries Coordinator for the Native Council of Prince Edward Island.

In 2007 the Native Council of Prince Edward Island formed the Kelewatl Natural life Harvesting Commission where Jordan is now presently the Commissioner. Jordan is also President of L'nu Fisheries Limited the Aboriginal Communal Commercial Fishing Entity of the Native Council of Prince Edward Island. He represents the Organization on numerous Species Advisory Committees on a Federal and Provincial level, He is also involved with PEI Atlantic Salmon Advisory Committee, Morell River Management Coop, Abegweit Pow Wow Committee and works with Species At Risk projects. Jordan volunteers his time at the annual Abegweit Pow Wow each year as well as at other NCPEI functions and events.

Jordan presently resides in the community of Bristol with his family. Jordan is both an active hunter and fisher and brings many years of valuable experience to the Organization.

Katie Cowie
GED Tutor/Cultural Connections Support

Katie is a status Native woman from Hiawatha First Nations Reserve in Keene, Ontario who joined the Native Council Team in October 2009 after moving to the Island.

Katie graduated from the Child and Youth Worker program at Algonquin College and worked with youth at risk at the Roberts/Smart Center in Ottawa. She is currently working as the tutor of the GED program, as well as Assistant co-coordinator of the Youth Program. Katie enjoys working directly with the youth and elicits an energy that is contagious and positive to everyone in her surroundings.

Kim Gallant
Diabetes Program Coordinator/Membership

Kim Gallant has been a full member of the Native Council of Prince Edward Island for 24 years. Kim has worked for the Organization for a term of service of 22 years, holding many positions including; Employment & Training (Zone 1), Membership and for the past ten (10) years has been the Coordinator of the National Diabetes Initiative. Kim is currently reviewing and implementing changes to the Membership Criteria as approved by the Membership during the 2009 Annual Assembly.

Kim has been a driving force in planning and volunteering for the Annual Pow Wow for many years. She is an active volunteer, assisting with programming and activities within the community iIncluding helping with the fisheries program and the Cultural Connections Youth Program.

Kim lives in Kensington, PE with her husband and shares her free time with her three lovely children and grandchildren.

Nancy MacLean
Executive Assistant

Nancy MacLean comes to the Project Team bringing the prospective of a former resident of western end of PEI where she received her first post-secondary training as a Stenographer through the Holland College West Prince Center. Since she received this training, she has developed her administrative skills through her work as a Civilian Instructor with the Cadet Movement of Canada. In 2004, she moved to Charlottetown for her second post-secondary diploma as a Child and Youth Care Worker through Holland College.

Nancy joined the staff at the NCPEI after her graduation in 2005 and has held various positions within the organization until being promoted to her current position as the Executive Assistant. While her major focus is to support the efforts of the NCPEI Executive and Board, she also contributes to the mandate of organization through fundraising, committee involvement and administrative support.

Naomi Crane
MAARS - Aquaculture Marketing Development Officer

Naomi Crane, Aquaculture Marketing Development Officer (AMDO)
is the multi-stakeholder lead deployed to Prince Edward Island as the
AMDO contact advisor to L’Nu Fisheries LTD. Naomi is stationed
in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island with L’nu Fisheries Ltd.,
which is venturing into aquaculture.

Naomi is a Mi’kmaq who resides on Traditional Ancestral Mi’kmaq
Homelands (off-reserve) in Prince Edward Island. Naomi has been involved in Prince Edward Island’s Aquaculture Industry for the last ten years, working in various sectors of the industry including, lobster processing, research on Atlantic Salmon, and the spawning and rearing of various finfish species such as Salmon, Arctic Char, Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout and Striped Bass.

Naomi participated in an internship provided by the Atlantic Vet College, in partnership with the Native Council of Prince Edward Island. It is here where Naomi received both the hands-on and classroom based training in finfish technology as well as flow-through and recirculation systems. Since then, Naomi has worked as a Level III Hatchery Technician and as a Hatchery Supervisor in an egg-toplate facility, giving Naomi the opportunity to meet valuable contacts within the Aquaculture Industry.

Natasha Cairns
Policy Advisor

Natasha Cairns joined the NCPEI team as a Policy Advisor in September of 2009. She is responsible for assisting in developing strategic plans, approaches and strategies for the organization at all levels. Some of her duties include; consider, research, review and recommend policy options and or amendments for the betterment of the organization; Conduct major policy and legislative reviews, makes recommendations on policy issues, implements policy decisions and responds to inquiries on policy; act as a liaison with senior officials both within and out of government, and briefs Executive and Board on policy issues and draft legislation. Natasha brings to NCPEI extensive experience in the field of social sciences as well as an educational background in criminal justice studies, sociology and psychology, holding a BA and MSc in these fields.

Natasha worked for five (5) plus years as an Instructor at both a private career college in Newfoundland and in the UPEI Sociology dept, most often addressing and lecturing on Aboriginal issues. Sociology and Criminology were her main focus of instructing. She also has experience working as a probation officer in Newfoundland and as a Youth Counsellor for young offenders (in an open-custody youth facility). Natasha was involved with Alternative Measures for 3 years in Newfoundland, which deals with 1st time young offenders outside the court process. She also has experiences in program management of a university programs (for 1st year students). She is fluent in both French and English and has training in suicide intervention and level 1 mediation.

Pam O'Neill
Hep'd Up on Life Coordinator

Pam O’Neill has been working with the NCPEI since 2007 when she took over the Hep C awareness youth program Hep’d Up On Life. Pam is a Child and Youth worker currently working on her degree in this field. After a 20 year career in the health care field she is enjoying helping to empower Native youth in taking control of their health issue’s. In addition to having been appointed Vice Chairperson for the Board of AIDSPEI she is also representing the NCPEI as a member of the board for the Rape and Sexual Assault Crisis Center.

Tim Sock
NNADAP Coordinator

Tim Sock is married to a wonderful wife and the proud father of two girls. Tim is a recovering alcoholic and with help from people in such programs as this one offered at the Native Council. Tim is now in a better place in life.
"The main reason I am here is to return what was given to me from people who helped me recover from my addictions in the past and to give back to others. I want to show them that there are still people out there to help in the process of recovery and to maintain their sobriety."

Tim brings to the position a great understanding of how addiction works and knowledge of resources to help for with addictions. Tim's door is always open and if there are any questions or any type of help members need, please feel free to contact him at anytime at 892-5314 ext 228.
