The COVID-19 Emergency Response program assists all off-reserve Indigenous peoples on PEI who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19 and are in need of support.
The Emergency Response Coordinator works closely with NCPEI Program Coordinators and the Finance Director to connect with off-reserve Indigenous people on PEI, respond to requests for assistance, and provide information, as well as material and financial supports, that have been made necessary due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Emergency Response Coordinator assists NCPEI with the capacity to take calls and make sure off-reserve Indigenous people are connected with the proper individuals. The Coordinator is able to assist with a number of different needs, such as providing short-term shelter and essential needs, food, medical supplies, and educational/ community supports. This allows for individuals to be able to stay connected with the Mi'kmaq culture and community and helps to remove some of the barriers that COVID-19 has created.
