Walking the Red Road

Walking the Red Road

We provide a safe and nurturing environment for Aboriginal youth living off-reserve to build and promote a sense of community, family, and connectedness needed to address the underlying issues of illicit drug use. We provide Aboriginal cultural activities, teachings, and rites of passage ceremonies to enable Aboriginal youth struggling with addictions, or at-risk of using illicit drugs. This is achieved through motivation, sense of accomplishment, pride, belonging, and reconnection to culture. Walking the Red Road facilitates our youth in developing the knowledge and understanding on the impacts of intergenerational addictions, and supports those struggling to overcome drug use and/ or wanting to break the cycle of abuse by using a number of stress and harm reduction techniques, strength based practices, and peer mentoring.
