Serving the Employment and Training needs of off-reserve Aboriginal people on Prince Edward Island 

The objection of the Employment Training Program is as follows:

  • To coordinate employment and training programs for the Native Council of Prince Edward Island.
  • Liaison with government departments, other agencies and businesses that provide employment and training opportunities.
  • Coordinate follow ups for alll clients regarding employment/training services.
  • Identify employment/training needs of clients.
  • Represent Native Council of Prince Edward Island on all employment/training related initiatives, as directed by the executive.
     

The following is a description of programs and services that fall under the Employment and Training program for clients.

  • Counselling Services
    • career decision making
    • skill enhancement
    • employment maintenance
  • Job search
  • Assistance with resume writing
  • Job referral
  • Individual assessment of training needs and referrals

The Employment and Training Office is mandated to serve the employment and training needs of off-reserve Aboriginal people living on Prince Edward Island. Working with other staff at NCPEI, government departments and other agencies, we are constantly working to develop opportunities for our clients in either employment or training.
