Strengthening Our Spirits (S.O.S.) for Women Family Violence Consultation
A Definition of Family Violence:
Family violence is any psychological, emotional or physical abuse that impairs the ability of the abused person to function in a healthy way or causes the person to be afraid. Besides physical abuse, this could mean threats that make a person afraid to act, or serious berating that undermines one’s self-esteem.
The S.O.S. Project of the NCPEI is working toward development of a strategy for improving delivery of more culturally sensitive supports, training and education to reduce personal and service barriers which will decrease the effects of violence against women in PEI. To do this, we are consulting with the community to develop a better understanding of the community.
We are asking for your help in answering the questions around:
- What are your concerns about family violence?
- How is family violence being addressed now in your community?
- What actions can we take to promote healthy relationships?
- What needs to be done about family violence in your community?
- What services and supports are needed by people who are directly affected by family violence?
- How can we call work together to better prevent and respond to the needs of those directly impacted by family violence?
By taking the time to respond to this short questionnaire, you can assist the S.O.S. project to provide a voice for those who have been victims of family violence and help to decrease the effects of violence in the future.
