Wele’g Program
The NCPEI Wele’g (Living Well) Program seeks to educate youth and adults to recognize warning signs for broad relationship aggression related to family dynamics, intimate partner relationships, and poor mental health. Focusing on oneself through self-esteem & identity, sense of belonging and stress buffering, as well as navigating shelter or outreach supports (if required) are key areas of awareness to help mitigate relationship aggression. Relationship education activities are offered in a culturally appropriate manner that ensures Indigenous identity, culture and understandings of risk to their members (e.g. risk for sexual exploitation and human trafficking) are woven into program activities.
Relationship Education workshops for Indigenous families cover a range of topics to foster healthy relationships, promote overall well-being, and provide knowledge on how to reduce family violence through prevention and intervention. Workshops have a broad range of focuses, including education; empowerment; healthy relationships; and system navigation.
